ELT@lgeria Teacher of the Year

The Teacher of the Year Speech 2012

It is truly wonderful to see so many distinguished educators gathered in this room to celebrate the Teacher of the Year 2012.

We are here today to honour the Teacher of the Year 2012 because the greatest institution for social change is the school and the main agent of this change is the teacher.

Great societies have always valued education and understood the important role schools and teachers play in the success of its people. And many civilizations thrived because they believed in the divine truth that only education could radically improve the welfare of a nation.

So, we owe a great deal of appreciation to teachers because we are the recipients of their noble profession.

Let us take a moment to observe our surroundings; we see and feel in this beautiful room the inspiring faces of those teachers who have made the difference at least once in their teaching career. You have made this meeting possible because you believe that every child has value and I believe that each one of you is worth being awarded for the awesome work you have been doing.

On behalf of ELTAlgeria Teacher of the Year Committee (ELTYC), and among all the teachers of English who have been nominated around the country, the teacher named as the Teacher of the Year 2012 is Mr. Khalid Baghoussi from Kheir Eddine high school in Mostaganem.

Whether a high school teacher, a senior teacher, a teacher trainer, a seminar manager , a project member, a team leader, a member of Baccalaureate paper national commission, a president of the Baccalaureate correction workshop, a book-writer,  a webmaster or a teacher of Written Expression at the university of Mostaganem and recently a teacher of TEFL, a teacher in the department of psychology or at the Intensive Language Teaching Centre, Mr.Khalid Baghoussi keeps abreast of the great challenges to education.
The committed educator, Mr. Khalid Baghoussi, extends a welcoming hand to the school community; he adapts the curriculum to match his students’ needs and incorporates their abilities and strengths into his lesson plans. He challenges them to exceed their own goals and gives them the courage to extend their learning beyond the classroom. He inspires students and colleagues alike; he helps them develop self-confidence, love what they are doing in and outside the classroom.

He has been a teacher, role model and advocate with great quality, that is modesty. He is quality-minded, goal-oriented, level-headed and well-mannered. All these words describe   Mr. Khalid Baghoussi who believes that education is a debt due from present to future generation. His passion for teaching brings learning to life. Every day, he tries to make our world just a little bit smaller.

Last but not least, he is appreciated thanks to his devotion to his job, kindness and generous nature. His ongoing-learning, motivation, and artistic way of teaching and delivering workshops have not wavered throughout his teaching career. Mr. Khalid Baghoussi has demonstrated nothing but great leadership skills, team spirit and great conviction to ‘Education’ as a stepping stone to the building of the good citizen.

Let me quote that “Teachers appreciate being appreciated for their commitment and engagement. For teachers, appreciation is their highest award.”

May God bless Mr. Khalid Baghoussi for his commitment to education.
Thank you all and God bless the work you have been doing.

Heartiest congratulations to be conveyed to you, brother Khalid, for this wonderful feat.
The talent you have been showing, for which I am an eye-witness, throughout your professional career proves to be no fluke and the winning of this
award confirms it.
Hardwork and perseverance that characterize your tireless work are tangible evidence that persistence and sustainability are the key to success.
It's high time that a person, like you, dear Khalid, with characters of honesty, integrety, intellect, know-how-to do and to be and consciousness deserves success
and others' recognition.
In fact, I am blessed to have you as a brother, colleague, friend... for more than a decade. We shared many issues and learned from each other. It is said that God
don't give you people you want, but He give you people you need; they help you, enourage you, back up you and make you the person you were meant to be.
No need to remind you of what is already part of your characters, You love what you are doing, and you ll succeed.

 Mr. M. Saha

As a teacher of the year 2011, I congratulate Mr. Baghoussi for his hard work and contribution to the development of  education in our country. I would like to to tell him that this recognition is a two-sword edge responsibilty. On one hand, it is a path that shows you reach excellence and you don't have to refrain, and on the other hand you have become an educator who has the duties to form and orient colleagues...

Again, CONGRATULATIONS and good luck

Miss Mekia Bouzid

Drawing up a reality or even generalizing some defective teaching practices are not the purpose of this piece of writing.

It is neither new nor wrong saying that our school is undergoing problems and our actual educational practices need more evaluation, orientation and guidance.

In schools where all think only about achieving threshold 'El A''ataba'.

In a society where the majority of teachers are stigmatized...

In conferences where all appeal for a constructive dialogue between Society, School and University qualified up to now as an utopia.

Educators believing in their tasks, anxious about the future of their learners, concerned about the society, encourage and educate both formally and informally the pupils. They work hard to create a loving, understanding environment where the primary concern in the learner's best interest, provide guidance to their enduring capacities, and prepare them to behave as good citizens.

One of these educators and teachers I had in 2004 as a 4-year student at the university was Mr Louznadji and another as a Responsible of the Intensive Teaching Language Centre (ITLC) in 2012 is Mr Baghoussi, the teacher who does his job to the best of his ability.

Mr. Baghoussi, the educator who gives sound advices for the best interest of the adolescent-learners.

However, as the ITLC Responsible, I am sure that I know more than everyone else the MISTER that I cal call the MASTER because he backs me up in taking the helm; he acts in the ITLC's best interest...

 Mr. Merouane Fatah

"... devoted, serious, inspiring

                    helpful, open-minded, respectful...

"... don't be afraid even if you retire...

You will never be a shadow of your former self...

In light of all what you did for English teaching...

At least, we say THANK YOU."

 Miss Zohra Sayah

With a great teacher and a helpful colleague like you, I was sure that life would be a successful journey. Thanks for being my teacher and guiding me towards the right path of life. Words are not enough to express my gratitude, Sir!

           Carol and Dave Butler

Houria Khadidja

I was delighted! Congratulations Mr. Baghoussi. Wish you more success. and hope we could know you better through contributions. Thank you beforehand.

Martha Schouten

I was delighted to see you won the 2012 ELTAlgeria Teacher ofthe Year award!

Since leaving Oran I have had the immense privilege of meeting many outstanding teachers and students from other parts of North Africa, but I must say  that the Algerian ones remain closest to my heart. I wish you all the teachers and students of English in Mostaganem, Oran and all of Algeria continued success and happiness.

Communication throughInternational English - without borders and with the use of each culture's gestures and personality - provides in my opinion one of the most positive paths to mutual understanding 2012.

 Sadok Amina,

I congratulate you for this great success. Really deserved success by your work, your courage and patience. Congratulations to you and good luck.

Bouhalla Abdallah

Thanks for all you have been doing for us all. I may just add this humble word to my brother, friend and colleague Khalid: "You really deserve this award for all the qualities that have been stated during the ceremony and online through our great site ELT@algeria and the committee members behind it. Big thanks to all with my Best Wishes ....

 Mr H.BENZIDANE, Univ of Mosta
Congratulations;
I would like to express the deepest appreciation to my teacher Mr.Khalid BAGHOUSSI, who has the attitude and the substance of a genius: he continually and convincingly conveyed a spirit of adventure in regard to scholarship and research, and an excitement in regard to teaching.

 Djelloul Djellouli

Mr.Louznadji didn't let us any gap to fill in. He said almost everything about Mr.Baghoussi. I would like to thank him so much for his everlasting encouraging attitude towards teachers.

I would like to congratulate the teacher of the year 2012, Mr.Khalid.Baghoussi. I have known him for nearly ten years now. I remember the good days we spent together with other fellow colleagues when I was appointed to head a Baccalaureate correction workshop in Mostaganem.
I might say that education in Algeria is in good health as long as there are devoted, committed and dedicated teachers as Mr.Baghoussi. He has contributed a lot to the English teaching / learning development through various seminars and workshops both as a trainer and as an active participant.

“A teacher plays an integral role in shaping the future of our nation, » said an American educator.

May this award and responsibility provide you with energy and power to constantly do better and never give up.

May God help us all do our job properly.
